NFL Week 1 Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em

Start ‘Em

Quarterbacks:

Derek Carr vs Carolina

Carr might be the most undervalued fantasy QB in the NFL right now, but look for a hot start with his new weapons Henry Ruggs, Brian Edwards, and emerging playmaker Hunter Renfrow in this shootout.

Carson Wentz vs Washington

Wentz is another quarterback looking to bounce back with a fresh group of new targets. The Eagles are down several playmakers, but I still am not too concerned with the Washington defense.

Tyrod Taylor vs Cincinatti

Taylor looks to make his NFL return against one of the worst defenses in the league. The Bengals certainly will be improved on offense, but don’t be shocked if the Chargers run up the score Sunday.

Running Backs:

Josh Jacobs @ Carolina

The Panthers lost most of their front 7 from 2019, most notable Luke Kuechly. Jacobs should easily dominate this defense and former teammate Tahir Whitehead.

Derrick Henry @ Denver

Look for a quick start from the reigning rushing champ against a questionable Denver defense.

Todd Gurley vs Seattle

Gurley makes his Falcons debut against the Seahawks, which may make this seem like a questionable start. Rest assured, I believe Gurley will return to a bellcow roll after splitting carries in 2019.

Wide Receivers:

D.J. Moore vs Las Vegas

The emerging NFL star will suit up for the first time with Teddy Bridgewater and lining up against youngsters Damon Arnette and Trayvon Mullen. Smells like burnt toast.

D.K. Metcalf @ Atlanta

Another young pass catcher in a growing role that will benefit from lining up against rookie AJ Terrell.

A.J. Brown @ Denver

In the battle of the A.J.’s, Brown will look to dominate Bouye.

Sit ‘Em

Quarterbacks:

Kyler Murray @ San Francisco

Yuck. Murray was one of the more overdrafted players this year, but a tough matchup against the reigning NFC Champs is a must sit if possible.

Matt Ryan vs Seattle

Seattle hasn’t had a great secondary in a few years, but the addition of Jamal Adams will definitely push their potential on defense.

Dak Prescott @ LA Rams

The Rams might have the strongest secondary in the league and should force the Cowboys in to a run heavy game plan.

Running Backs:

Le’Veon Bell @ Buffalo

Bell is washed up and facing a top 5 defense. Not a good combo.

Antonio Gibson vs Philadelphia

The excitement is big for the rookie feature back, but don’t pull the trigger too soon on starting Gibson. The strong Eagles front 7 and weak Washington line should cause a scary mismatch.

Cam Akers vs Dallas

A similar situation to Gibson, a strong front 7 create and unfavorable mismatch for the rookie debut.

Wide Receivers

Amari Cooper @ LA Rams

As mentioned early, the Rams stout secondary will most likely force the Cowboys into a run heavy game plan. When going to the air, Cooper will be shadowed by Jalen Ramsey as well.

DeVante Parker @ New England

Not only is a Fitzmagic target a risky start to begin with, Parker will be shadowed by Stefon Gilmore for the majority of the game.

Juju Smith-Schuster @ New York Giants

Anyone against the Giants secondary in 2019 was a must start, but that is not the case this year. The recent addition of shutdown corner James Bradberry and safety Logan Ryan should give a huge boost to the Giants defense.
