5. Tyree Wilson | Texas Tech, Edge

Texas Tech @ #25 Kansas State | ESPN+ Noon EST

Big Board: 25

Tyree Wilson has broken out into being considered one of the top edge prospects in the country and already has 22 pressures and 4 sacks on 101 pass rush snaps. Wilson played a pivotal role in slowing down the Texas Longhorns last week and added 6 pressures and a sack in the upset victory. Wilson now faces Kansas State, who has a very solid offensive line headlined by LG Cooper Bebee. Wilson has lined up over tackle or as an outside 9, so the two highly ranked prospects won’t directly be lining up against each other player after play, but this is still going to be an awesome matchup.

4. Michael Penix Jr. | Washington, QB

#15 Washington @ UCLA | ESPN 10:30 PM EST (Friday)

Big Board: 51

Penix is really fun QB riser that has legitimized his NFL potential at the start of the season. His ball placement and accuracy has improved tremendously and he is playing like the game has finally slowed down for the vet. Penix shredded Michigan State and Stanford in back to back games and now faces the 4-0 UCLA Bruins in a PAC12 matchup of two unbeatens. I currently have an early mid round grade on Penix, but another strong game with clean tape would continue to push him up my draft board. Now is the time to prove if he has significantly improved and matured as a passer or if he just had a hot start.

3. Blake Corum | Michigan, RB

#4 Michigan @ Iowa | Fox Noon EST

Big Board: 80

I have running back as one of the deepest position groups in the 2022 class, with guys like Blake Corum trying to legitimize their potential. Corum is a smaller back, at just 5’8″, but he packs a punch with a 210 lbs frame and low center of gravity. He has constantly been the leader of Michigan’s testy run offense and has had back to back huge games, with a combined 314 yards and 7 TDs. Corum is slotted to be a guy that runs a sub 4.5 40 yard dash, which could push him into the Day 2 category, but you’d also like to see him add more as a receiver (just 2 receptions for 11 yards). Corum faces the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, who are currently the nations top scoring defense and allowing just 73 yards on the ground.

2. DJ Uiagalelei | Clemson, QB

#10 NC State @ #5 Clemson | ABC 7:30 PM EST

Big Board: 43

Many were so turned off by Uiagalalelei abysmal 2021 season that they seem to have forgotten about the raw traits and passing ability he possesses. Things have seemed to slow down for DJ and he has both thrived in pressure moments and with the deep ball. He currently ranks 2nd in the nation on big time throws over 20 yards, with 12. Uiagalelei had a great performance last weekend against Wake Forest and will be faced with another challenging test against the #10 NC State Wolfpack. This will be a great matchup for NFL draft fans, as both teams have a talented signal caller with NFL potential. NC State QB Devin Leary currently sits at #98 on my Big Board.

1. Bryce Young | Alabama, QB

#2 Alabama @ #20 Arkansas | CBS 3:30 PM EST

Big Board: 8

The reining Heisman winner is starting to find his groove after a choppy start to the season and threw for his first 300 yard game on Saturday against Vandy. The Crimson Tide will face their first ranked opponent in what is currently a three game SEC stretch against teams in the Top 25. Last year, Young shined brightest in the biggest games, as he averaged 336 yards, 3 TDs and half an interception against ranked opponents. On the other side of the ball, beware of LB Drew Sanders, who has lined up primarily as an inside linebacker this season and has taken over as the Alpha of the group. Sanders’ lanky 6’5″ frame could push him as an outside edge rusher schematically in the NFL, especially considering his pass rushing production this year with 6 sacks and 18 pressures on 64 pass rushing downs.

Game of the Week

#10 NC State @ #5 Clemson | ABC 7:30 PM EST

The game of the week is full of NFL prospects, most notably the aforementioned QB battle between Leary and Uiagalelei. This will be a big test for the Clemson QB, who has took care of business against Wake Forest last week but will now face a defense that is leading the ACC in points allowed. Leary will face a stout Clemson defense full of NFL talent including DTs Bryan Bresee and Tyler Davis, Edge Myles Murphy and LB Trenton Simpson.

Honorable Mention:

Jalon Daniels | Kansas, QB

Iowa State @ Kansas | ESPN2 3:30 PM EST

Big Board: 89

That’s right…Kansas football has a prospect on this week’s HM watchlist! Daniels doesn’t have a big time matchup, but he is a QB that I will be watching for the rest of the year. He is the best player that you’ve never heard of but is very much on the NFL Draft scouting radar. Through 4 starts, Daniels has 890 yards passing, 320 yards rushing and 15 total TDs. Now, heading into week 5, it is time to find out if Daniels is legit or just on a hot streak. I have been very impressed with his athleticism, zip and playmaking ability, but there is a lot of football left before claiming he is a top QB prospect.
