Wild Card Preview…Another Common Cowboys L? DraftID Podcast

5. Miyan Williams | Ohio State, RB

Iowa @ #2 Ohio State | 12:00pm EST FOX

The stout spark-plug RB faces one of the top defenses in the nation this weekend, as well as one of the nations best run stuffing linebackers, Jack Campbell. Williams has done a great job taking over the duties as the featured back for the Buckeyes and comes into this game off of the biggest performance in his career. Last game, he took 21 carries for 189 yards and 5 TDs…yes…5! At 5’9″ 225 lbs, Williams fits the mold as a powerful, between the tackles RB with a low center of gravity, but the veteran back who once was clocked in the 4.7s looks much quicker than he did when he arrived to the program. I’m not ready to say that he fits inside the first two days of the draft, but with continued steady performance and a much improved 40 time, we could see Miyan Williams as a major contributor in the NFL.

4. Noah Sewell | Oregon, LB

#9 UCLA @ #10 Oregon | 3:30pm EST FOX

Is there a more surprising team in the country than the undefeated UCLA Bruins? Most people wrote off Oregon following a week 1 49-3 pounding from the Georgia Bulldogs, but the Ducks have bounced back in a major way and have scored over 40 points in every game since. However, this game will be their biggest test against a team that is surprisingly full of NFL talent. UCLAs offense is headlined by RB Zach Charbonnette and WR Jake Bobo, both who have snuck inside my top 100 prospects. Sewell, who entered the season as a 1st round prospect, will have his hands full against both the run and the pass.

3. Will Rogers | Mississippi State, QB

#24 Mississippi State @ #6 Alabama | 7:00pm EST ESPN

If you’ve followed me this fall, then you know Will Rogers is “my guy”. He’s one of the most intriguing prospects and certainly also one of the most slept on. Do I think Rogers has the best traits in the class? No. But he has amazed me with his touch and deep ball this season, which he somehow has gotten more efficient the deeper the pass. This year, his QBR on deep, intermediate, and short passes have been 122.7, 119.1 and 106.9, respectively. Will Rogers and the Bulldogs will travel an hour and a half east to Tuscaloosa to face the fed up Crimson Tide. Alabama has struggled the last two weeks and certainly will be looking for a “get right” game, but Will Rogers will look to play spoiler and right his wrongs from a bad game from their matchup last year.

2. Zach Evans | Mississippi, RB

#7 Ole Miss @ LSU | 3:30pm EST CBS

The TCU transfer has found his stride this year for Ole Miss and looks very much like a top 5 RB in the 2023 class. So far Evans has rushed for over 130 yards in every game that he has been given 18 or more carries. The LSU defense is filled with NFL prospects like CB BJ Ojulari and CB Mekhi Garner, but they have allowed 145 yards per game on the ground and gave up 210 yards and 4 TDs rushing last week against Florida. The week before wasn’t much better, as the Tennessee Vols had their way in a 500 yard offensive outing.

1. DJ Uagalelei | Clemson, QB

#14 Syracuse vs #5 Clemson | 12:00pm EST ABC

This matchup includes two of the hottest teams in the country and the last undefeated teams in the ACC. This game will have major implications in the Coastal division and likely is the regular season game of the year for both teams. A loss here would likely end either team’s CFP hopes. DJ Uagalelei has been one of my biggest risers this season, but now faces one of the best secondaries in the nation and the top rated in the ACC. Syracuse’s star CB Garrett Williams left last week’s game against NC State with a foot injury, but there are hopes that he can play in such a big matchup.

Game of the Week

#9 UCLA @ #10 Oregon | 3:30pm EST FOX

If you were to tell me this would be a featured prospect matchup back in August, then I would’ve probably called you crazy. This is a game that doesn’t feature any top tier picks, but is full of future Day 2 talent. For the Ducks, LB Noah Sewell has been one of the best all around defenders in the nation and continues to make a push into potentially being a 1st round pick. CB Christian Gonzalez has been a steady riser this season and ranks among the top cover corners. Edge DJ Johnson is a name you likely will hear early and often.

On the other side, UCLAs offense runs through RB Zach Carbonnette and WR Jake Bobo, both who have top 100 ranks on my big board. Edge Laiatu Latu has been a big time riser this year after entering the season as a somewhat unknown. Harvard DT transfer Jacob Sykes is a smart and savvy veteran on the defensive line that will certainly impress in interviews and on film. DB Stephan Blaylock is the best player in their secondary and has risen up my board this fall.
